Barley IKORETS

The Ikorets spring barley variety is the result of selection by the V.V. Dokuchaev Voronezh State Agrarian University and was created using intraspecific hybridization. It belongs to medium-maturing varieties and is intended for the brewing industry thanks to optimal starch content (about 55%) and protein (up to 11.8%). The plant is medium-height with a semi-upright stem, large grain, and a cylindrical spike of medium length and density. The variety's feature is high resistance to lodging, drought, and a range of diseases, including loose smut, powdery mildew, root rots, and stem rust. Ikorets demonstrates stable and high yield under various climatic conditions, especially in arid and moisture-unstable regions. The average yield of the variety over several years of testing was about 3.59-4.57 t/ha, while maximum indicators reached 7.59 t/ha in the Kursk region and 6.44 t/ha in the Rostov region. The variety is highly adaptable to local meteorological conditions and outperforms the widely used standard Prianizovsky 9 in productivity. Thanks to the combination of high productivity, resistance to adverse factors, and excellent grain technological qualities, the Ikorets variety is a promising choice for agricultural producers focused on brewing barley production. It ensures a reliable yield even under drought conditions and contributes to stable raw material quality for the brewing industry.
