Spring barley variety «Mamluk» is an early-maturing variety with a vegetation period of 65-85 days, maturing simultaneously with the Temp variety. This variety was registered in 1993 and is widely cultivated in the North Caucasus region of Russia. The ear of the variety is cylindrical, long, and loose, colored straw-yellow. The grain is large, semi-long in shape, weighing 46-52 grams per 1000 grains, indicating high-quality raw material. The variety belongs to the nodding type and is characterized by high early maturity, allowing it to successfully form full-weight grain even under unfavorable conditions. The «Mamluk» variety is distinguished by high potential yield exceeding 60 centners per hectare, and lodging resistance, which is above average. Drought resistance is average, making it suitable for cultivation in the North Caucasus region with variable moisture. In terms of diseases, the variety shows average resistance to leaf-and-stem diseases and powdery head smut, but high early maturity contributes to reducing damage from epidemics. Thanks to these characteristics, «Mamluk» maintains its popularity in the agricultural sector. Extensive economic use of the variety includes feed industry and food sector. The grain of the variety is suitable for processing into cereals, however, most of the harvest is used as fodder. Despite the emergence of new varieties with higher productivity and adaptability, «Mamluk» continues to remain popular due to its reliability and resistance to unfavorable conditions, which is especially important in arid regions and at low temperatures.
