Description PRIMORSKIY 44
PRIMORSKIY 44 — medium-maturing spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) variety from the grain-forage group, intended for cultivation in various regions of the Far East and other areas of Russia. The vegetative period ranges from 80 to 96 days, ensuring optimal maturation under moderate climate conditions. The plants are tall, with stem heights ranging from 58 to 90 cm, featuring a thin, elastic stem and an upright bush with dark green leaves. The ear is long, cylindrical, loose, and covered with a strong waxy coating, which contributes to resistance to adverse weather conditions and lodging.

The grain of the PRIMORSKIY 44 variety is large, elongated-elliptical, pale yellow in color, with a mass of 1000 grains ranging from 38 to 52 g. The variety is characterized by high drought tolerance and heat tolerance, making it a reliable choice for regions with a variable climate. It possesses moderate resistance to diseases such as loose smut and net form of loose smut, as well as weak susceptibility to powdery mildew, dwarf rust, and helminthosporium, which contributes to stable yield.

PRIMORSKIY 44 is recommended for cultivation in Amur Oblast, Primorsky and Khabarovsk Krai, as well as the Jewish Autonomous Oblast, Kamchatka Krai, Magadan Oblast, Sakhalin Oblast, and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. The variety is distinguished by high productive tillering and uniformity of stemness, which facilitates agricultural operations. Due to its qualities, it is suitable both for grain-forage use and for brewing purposes, providing protein content up to 12.6% and an average yield of about 3.4 t/ha.
