ONEGA

The ONEGA winter barley variety is a medium-maturing, multi-row grain fodder type intended for cultivation in the Republic of Crimea and the North Caucasus region. This variety is characterized by a semi-elongated grain shape with a 1000-grain mass ranging from 34 to 40 grams and a bulk density of 665 to 685 g/l. The protein content in the grain is 11.4-12.8%, ensuring good quality of feed raw materials. The growing period of the variety ranges from 224 to 260 days, allowing it to successfully complete its development cycle in the local climate. ONEGA is distinguished by high resistance to lodging; moreover, it does not succumb when left unharvested, which contributes to yield preservation. The winter hardiness and frost resistance of the variety are at a medium level, however, it possesses good resistance to spring frosts and drought, making it a reliable choice for regions with variable weather conditions. In addition, the variety is resistant to a number of diseases, including loose and solid stem rust, brown leaf rust, which reduces yield losses and the need for intensive chemical protection. For successful cultivation of the ONEGA variety, it is recommended to follow agronomic practices taking into account the features of winter barley. The choice of this variety is due to its adaptation to steppe and Crimean conditions, which is confirmed by high yields — from 40 to 50 c/ha on dry land and up to 75 c/ha with irrigation. These indicators make ONEGA a profitable and promising variety for grain fodder production in the specified regions.
