Barley variety Monomakh is a highly drought-resistant spring type, distinguished by high economic and bioenergy efficiency of cultivation. Studies conducted between 2012 and 2014 showed that optimizing seeding rate and foliar feeding significantly increases yield and profitability. The best results are achieved at a seeding rate of 5.0 million seeds per hectare and application of special Kristalon mixture along with the bio-preparation Agro EM during the tillering stage, which ensures stable plant growth and development, as well as increases profitability by 43.7% compared to control variants.
Monomakh variety demonstrates high drought resistance, confirmed by comparative studies with other barley varieties. Under low soil moisture conditions, it maintains growth processes and biomass accumulation, making it preferable for cultivation in arid regions. Additional treatment of plants with nitrous oxide donor sodium nitroprusside helps mitigate negative effects of drought and improves growth indicators.
For successful cultivation of Monomakh, soils with high agrochemical potential and timely application of mineral or organic fertilizers are recommended. Plants form a strong multi-stemmed bush with stems resistant to lodging and breakage. The vegetative period of this variety is characterized by high growth energy and good adaptability to climatic conditions. To protect against pathogens, especially rust, fungicide treatment during the vegetative period is recommended. Harvesting is performed by direct combine harvesting at optimal times to avoid grain loss.
