Mouravi

Mouravi barley is a mid-season variety registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2018 and recommended for cultivation in all regions of the country. It is intended for intensive farming conditions and especially suitable for the brewing industry. The vegetation period of the variety is 72-75 days, ensuring timely maturity and high productivity. The average yield based on multi-year trials reaches 6.84 t/ha, with the maximum recorded yield of 9.41 t/ha, which exceeds the standard variety Komandor by 14-20%.

The Mouravi variety is characterized by dense, strong stems up to 72-75 cm in height, ensuring resistance to lodging and grain shattering. It has high resistance (8-9 points) to diseases such as powdery mildew and striped gummy spot, contributing to crop health and stable yields. The grain is large, uniform, with protein content around 10.5% and high extractability — 78-80%, which is especially important for brewing raw materials.

The agronomic practices for growing the Mouravi variety are standard for its cultivation zones, but the mandatory condition is the application of fertilizers to achieve maximum productivity. The ear is two-rowed, long (10-12 cm), loose, straw-yellow in color, with long, serrated, and elastic awns. The leaves are green, intermediate type, without pubescence. The 1000-grain weight is 48-54 g. All these characteristics make the Mouravi variety a reliable and high-yielding choice for farmers oriented toward producing quality barley for the brewing industry.
