MIP Salut

Barley MIP Salut is a medium-maturing spring barley variety registered in 2017 and belonging to the nutans group. The period from germination to heading is 56-58 days, and plant height ranges from 72 to 83 cm. The variety is characterized by high resistance to lodging (7-8 points), shattering (9 points), and several diseases, including powdery mildew, leaf spot, and dwarf rust (6-8 points). The grain contains 10.5–11.5 % protein, and the 1000-grain weight is 48.4-50.3 g. The yield of this variety in different regions of Ukraine reaches 5.78–8.30 t/ha.

MIP Salut is a brewing barley, recommended for cultivation in forest-steppe and forest-steppe regions. The variety features two rows of grains in the ear, absence of leaf sheath hairs and ventral beard, as well as short main bristles. In Ukraine, the variety has been used since 2016 and demonstrates high yields, for example, on an 8 ha area at the "Peremoga" farm, 80 centners/ha were obtained. The recommended sowing rate is 3.5-4 million germinating seeds per hectare.

To achieve maximum productivity, MIP Salut responds well to nitrogen fertilization. It is recommended to apply ammonium nitrate at 150-200 kg (physical weight) before sowing cultivation. When forming the second internode, the growth regulator Tseron is advisable. The variety is widely distributed in Ukraine and supported by an extensive network of seed supply.
