Barley Ros

A Pillar of Ukrainian Breeding

The 'Ros' barley variety is a proven solution developed by the Breeding and Genetics Institute (Odesa). This spring barley remains a staple in agricultural enterprises that prioritize stability and predictability. In an era dominated by intensive foreign hybrids, 'Ros' maintains its market position as a reliable choice for farmers seeking high adaptability to diverse Ukrainian soil and climatic conditions.

Agronomic Profile

The success of the variety is built on a balanced combination of biological traits that make it a workhorse in crop rotations:

• High tillering potential, enabling the formation of a dense crop stand even under moderate seeding rates.
• Excellent lodging resistance, which simplifies harvesting operations and minimizes grain loss.
• Resilience to environmental stress: the variety shows remarkable endurance during the drought periods common in the southern and central regions of Ukraine.

Why Farmers Choose 'Ros'

The reputation of this variety is grounded in yield consistency. The originator (BGI-NCSS) has placed a strong emphasis on phytosanitary characteristics, allowing the plant to demonstrate solid resistance to common cereal diseases. This feature helps farmers reduce fungicide application costs, which is critical for cost-efficiency in grain production.

'Ros' is a tool for those who value efficiency. It does not require overly complex cultivation technologies, responding predictably to basic fertilizer rates and standard sowing schedules. Despite the influx of modern high-intensity varieties, this barley remains a relevant and reliable option for the production of high-quality feed grain.
