Barley Edem / Eden

Proven Genetics for Local Climates

The winter barley variety 'Edem' represents the core achievement of the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute (National Center for Seed Science and Cultivar Research) in Ukraine. Developed for the specific challenges of the Ukrainian steppe and forest-steppe, this six-row barley variety has earned a reputation for resilience and yield stability.

Agronomic Characteristics

Standing at 110–120 cm, the 'Edem' variety is recognized by its robust six-row ear, which contributes significantly to the yield potential. With a vegetation period of 120–130 days, it fits perfectly into the standard harvesting cycles, allowing farmers to efficiently manage field operations. The variety is characterized by its excellent ability to adapt to varying soil conditions and moisture availability.

Yield and Seed Quality

A standout feature of 'Edem' is its grain weight; a 1,000-seed mass of 50–52 grams ensures high-quality planting material. Such large, plump grains are essential for strong initial development and consistent field density. This makes the variety a top choice for agricultural enterprises aiming for consistent, high-grade forage or export-quality grain.
