Barley Enrike

Reliable Yields in Challenging Conditions

German plant breeding company Saaten-Union offers a solution for farms where phytosanitary purity is a top priority. The two-row winter barley variety "Enrike" is designed for growers who utilize intensive farming technologies and aim to minimize fungicide dependency.

Disease Resistance as a Foundation for Profit

Managing disease pressure is the primary challenge in barley cultivation. "Enrike" demonstrates strong genetic resistance to the most damaging pathogens:

• Helminthosporium and net blotch, which often drastically reduce kernel weight, have minimal impact on this variety's productivity.
• Rhynchosporium does not become a limiting factor, allowing for predictable crop protection planning without the need for emergency spraying.
• Powdery mildew, which is typically rampant in humid seasons, is effectively held in check by the plant's robust immune system.

Practical Application in Crop Rotation

The two-row head type makes this variety a preferred choice for both malting and high-quality livestock feed production. Its high tillering energy allows the crop to close the canopy quickly, reducing weed competition during the early stages of vegetation. Under intensive management, "Enrike" responds well to nitrogen fertilization without sacrificing lodging resistance, ensuring easier harvesting and minimizing grain loss during the threshing process.

For agronomists, this variety represents consistency: it integrates seamlessly into existing agricultural practices, requiring no specialized machinery for sowing or crop protection application. It is a dependable asset for achieving stable, high-yielding outcomes in diverse climatic zones.
