Barley DEVATYI VAL

Reliability in volatile climatic conditions

The winter barley variety 'Deva', developed by the Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, is designed for growers who prioritize consistency over aggressive, high-risk growth cycles. This six-row barley excels in its adaptive capacity, specifically engineered to withstand sudden temperature fluctuations and regional moisture deficits.

Pathogen resistance: Built-in efficiency

What sets 'Deva' apart from many western hybrids is its robust field tolerance to common pathogens that often threaten yield quality. The variety shows significant genetic resistance to:

• Helminthosporiosis: Preventing leaf spotting to ensure grain filling continues even under stress.
• Powdery Mildew: Maintaining photosynthetic activity without the need for constant intensive fungicide sprays.
• Stem Smut: Providing a reliable safeguard for the spike during critical reproductive stages.

By reducing the reliance on chemical protection, 'Deva' offers a clear path to lower production costs per hectare.

Agronomic Profile

Standing at 110–120 cm, the plant architecture is balanced to optimize light and nutrient absorption. With a high Thousand Kernel Weight (TKW) of 48–50 grams, 'Deva' ensures strong early-stage vigor and excellent bushel weight at harvest. This variety is an ideal choice for operations that want to hedge their bets against unpredictable weather while maintaining high-quality output. It thrives in well-managed rotation cycles and is particularly rewarding for growers focusing on sustainable, cost-effective cultivation practices.
