Description Derybas
Derybas is a medium-early maturing spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) variety included in the State Register for the Middle Volga region. It is recommended for cultivation in Penza and Ulyanovsk regions, as well as in the Republics of Mordovia and Tatarstan. The crop's vegetation period ranges from 69 to 75 days. The plant features a short stem and semi-erect bush, providing resistance to lodging. The grain is large, with a 1000-grain weight ranging from 45 to 51 grams. The ear is pyramidal-cylindrical in shape, medium density, with long, serrated awns and moderate wax coating. Lower sheath leaves lack hairs, and the flag leaf auricles are colored with medium-intensity anthocyanins. The Derybas variety is characterized by high drought tolerance and resistance to powdery mildew and root rots, but it is susceptible to striped leaf spot. The average yield in the region is approximately 35.4 centners per hectare, with maximum yields recorded in the Republic of Tatarstan, reaching 62.1 centners per hectare. Protein content in the grain can reach 15.6%, making this variety attractive for grain and fodder use. The grain has an unbranched hilum and is covered with lodicules, a characteristic feature of the nutans variety. Derybas is intended for use as grain and fodder, due to its high quality and stable yield. Thanks to its agronomic traits and adaptation to the Middle Volga region, this variety is a reliable choice for agricultural producers seeking a high-quality and stable barley harvest.
