Barley Hannelore

Stability and Quality: The Austrian Standard in Your Field

The winter barley variety 'Hannelore' from the Austrian breeding company Saatbau is the choice for farmers who prioritize the balance between high yields and cultivation efficiency. Unlike many multi-row varieties, 'Hannelore' is a classic two-row type, which ensures the formation of large, uniform kernels.

Key Advantages

• Thousand Kernel Weight (TKW): Metrics of 50-52 grams make this variety highly attractive to processors who value high output quality.
• Phytosanitary Resistance: The variety shows excellent tolerance to powdery mildew and helminthosporiosis, allowing for reduced fungicide application during the growing season.
• Adaptability to Intensive Farming: The compact plant height (60-70 cm) provides high lodging resistance, which is critical when applying high doses of nitrogen fertilizers.

What to Consider

With a nitrogen content of 12%, 'Hannelore' demonstrates solid quality parameters. Its short stature not only prevents losses during harvest but also simplifies combine operations in fields with high stand density. However, to unlock the full potential of this Austrian variety, strict adherence to sowing dates is essential, as winter forms require proper overwintering conditions to develop a robust root system.

'Hannelore' is an investment in the reliability of Austrian breeding from Saatzucht Donau, where every generation undergoes rigorous selection in moderate European climates. This variety is ideal for farmers engaged in intensive agriculture who prioritize large grain size while minimizing risks related to leaf diseases and crop lodging.
