Description Slava Buryatii (Baikal, Baikal Izobyl'nyy)
Late-ripening variety selected at the Buryat Fruit and Berry Experimental Station. Obtained by pollinating 'Ranetka Purpurovaya' with a pollen mixture of 'Papировка', 'Grušovka Moskovskaya', 'Borovinka', and 'Belfler-Kitayka'. Authors: L. I. Dubrovskaya, I. A. Novoselova.
Approved for the Republic of Buryatia in 1988. Widely grown in collective and home gardens in Buryatia, partially in Chita Oblast.

Tree is bushy, medium-sized (2.8 m), with a rounded, moderately dense crown. Bark on the trunk and main scaffold branches is greenish. Branches are straight, sparsely arranged, with tips pointing upward. Fruit set is concentrated on simple spur clusters.

Shoots are brownish-brown, hairy, medium thickness, straight, round in cross-section. Buds are medium-sized, blunt-conical, hairy, pressed against the shoot.
Leaves are dark green, medium-sized. Leaf margin is serrated. Blade is wavy, leathery. Surface is shiny, hairless. Petiole is medium. Stipules are thread-like and short.
Flowers are small, flat, white, with stigmas and anthers at the same level.

Fruits are of the half-pear type, exceptionally small (15 g), spherical, equilateral, smooth. Main skin color is golden-yellow, covering color is dark red, very strong and diffuse. Skin is smooth with a waxy coating, slightly rusted at the pedicel base. Pedicel is medium length, thin. Receptacle is small, wide, weakly ribbed.
Flesh is creamy, soft, medium-textured, finely grained. Flavor is sour-sweet, with moderate aroma.
Fruits are attractive, flavor is good. Chemical composition of fruits: total sugars — 12.6%, titratable acids — 1.6%, ascorbic acid — 7.6 mg/100g, P-active substances — 335 mg/100g.
Ripening period is late-season.
Fruits are suitable for fresh consumption and processing into juices, compotes, jams. Fruits stored fresh for 2.5 months.
Exhibits self-fertility from 9 to 34%. Good pollinator for 'Ermolaev 23'.
Trees begin fruiting at 3 years. Good, annual yield; in collective orchards, trees yield 35 to 50 kg of fruit per tree.
Cold-hardy with high drought resistance and high heat tolerance. Resistant to scab.

Advantages of the variety: high cold-hardiness and drought resistance, good annual fruiting, high self-fertility, storage life of 2.5 months, resistance to scab, low crown, good fruit detachment.

Disadvantages of the variety: exceptionally small fruits.
Used in breeding.
