Apple MAGISTR

Legacy of the Michurin Breeding Center

The 'Magistr' apple variety is a product of the I.V. Michurin Federal Scientific Center, designed for growers who prioritize a balance between fruit quality and disease resistance. As a classic autumn variety, it occupies a strategic niche, offering a harvest that is both commercially viable and capable of extended storage.

Disease Resistance and Orchard Health

A standout feature of 'Magistr' is its genetic resistance to major orchard diseases. This robustness allows for reduced pesticide applications, making it a viable candidate for more sustainable agricultural practices. The variety shows reliable field resistance against:

• Apple scab;
• Bacterial burn (fire blight);
• Powdery mildew.

Orchard Performance

The tree is characterized by vigorous growth, requiring consistent canopy management. However, this growth is rewarded with fruit weighing between 150–200 grams. Once harvested, the apples maintain their texture and taste for 5–6 months under proper storage conditions. With a moderate winter hardiness profile, 'Magistr' is best suited for temperate climates where winter temperatures remain within the range of its physiological tolerance.

Ultimately, 'Magistr' is a testament to the reliability of long-standing breeding traditions, providing growers with a predictable and high-quality yield through standard horticultural practices.
