This winter variety was obtained at the Scientific Research Institute of Horticulture of Siberia named after M. A. Lisavenko through crossing 'Autumn Joy' with 'Melba' in 1958. Breeders: M. A. Lisavenko, L. Y. Zhebrovskaya, I. P. Kalinina, T. F. Kornienko, Z. A. Gran'kina. Widely grown in gardens of Western Siberia. Approved since 1995 for the West Siberian region.
Trees are medium-sized with rounded, moderately dense crowns. Branches grow almost at right angles from the trunk, with many buds and spurs, mostly bearing fruit.
Shoots are thin, straight, dark brown, and hairy. Leaves are small, elongated, slightly pointed, dark green, matte, wavy, concave, with finely serrated edges. Petioles are short, hairy, with small, elongated stipules.
Fruits (see illustration) are small (40-60 g), round. Main color is white, with a red, blurred covering over most of the fruit. Peduncle is medium length, calyx is medium. Calyx is small, half-open, with a small plate. Sub-calyx tube is medium, funnel-shaped. Central cavity is medium. Seed chambers are large and closed.
Flesh is white, firm, juicy, tart-sweet, with excellent flavor. Chemical composition of the fruit: total sugar content — 12.2% (8.5-12.7), titratable acids — 0.43% (0.34-1.25), tannins — 166 mg/100g (91-250), ascorbic acid — 15.2 mg/100g (5.62-24.9), P-active compounds — 178 mg/100g (133-223), pectin substances — 6.92% on dry weight.
Fruits ripen in mid-September and can be stored until 150 days. This variety is of universal use. Highly valued by the population for its attractive, tasty, and long-storing fruits.
Fruit-bearing begins in the fourth year. High yield, regular fruiting. Winter hardiness is moderate; in particularly severe winters, multi-year wood may freeze. Highly resistant to scab.
Advantages of the variety: high yield, high commercial and flavor quality, long storage life of fruits.
Disadvantages of the variety: risk of tree freezing in particularly severe winters.
