Apple Diana

Stable winter harvest: why 'Dmiana' is a smart choice for your orchard

Selecting a winter apple variety for commercial or private production often comes down to balancing flavor with ease of maintenance. Developed by the Institute of Horticulture of NAAS, 'Dmiana' meets the demand for a technologically efficient variety that does not require excessive chemical interventions.

Agronomic advantages

The core asset of this variety is its genetic resistance to scab. In humid climates, where fungal diseases can devastate yields, 'Dmiana' demonstrates high vitality. This allows agronomists to reduce the frequency of fungicide applications, which directly improves production costs and environmental impact.

Fruit characteristics and logistics

Fruits weighing 150–200 grams exhibit a round or flat-round shape. Visually, the apples are appealing: a light green or greenish-yellow background is complemented by a characteristic diffuse blush. For producers, understanding logistics is key: the shelf life is 3–4 months under standard storage conditions in facilities with active ventilation.

• Winter hardiness: high, making the variety suitable for most climatic regions.
• Usage: ideal for establishing intensive orchards where harvest predictability is essential.
• Resistance: acts as an effective shield against powdery mildew and scab, simplifying the agronomic calendar.

'Dmiana' is the choice for growers who value reliability. The variety is forgiving in terms of cultivation techniques and ensures a high-quality market appearance even during seasons with challenging infection pressure.
