Apple CHEHOVSKOE

A Reliable Autumn Choice for Classic Flavor Enthusiasts

The 'Chekhovskoye' apple tree, developed by the Federal Research Center for Horticulture, is designed for growers who prioritize flavor profile above all else. Within the autumn variety segment, this hybrid stands out with a tasting score of 4.5 out of 5: a harmonious balance of sweetness and mild acidity makes it a favorite for fresh consumption.

Agronomic Features and Care

The tree is medium-sized and develops a compact, rounded crown, which simplifies orchard maintenance and harvesting. A key strength of the variety is its genetic resistance to common scab—the nemesis of many apple orchards—allowing for a reduction in chemical treatments. However, one should note its moderate winter hardiness; the variety performs best in temperate climates, requiring extra protection in northern regions.

Fruit: Marketability and Storage

The fruits weigh between 150 and 200 grams and feature a classic rounded shape. Their color is understated, appearing greenish-yellow without a blush, which looks quite elegant in its natural simplicity. The cream-colored flesh has a pleasant, consistent texture. For both commercial growers and home gardeners, it is worth noting that the shelf life is 3–4 months under proper temperature conditions, an impressive metric for an autumn apple that extends the consumption season into mid-winter.

'Chekhovskoye' is an optimal choice for those seeking a reliable variety with strong disease immunity and predictably high fruit quality, requiring minimal complex pruning.
