Description
Antirrhinum 'Brazilian Carnival' is an annual plant reaching up to 80 cm in height, featuring a robust habitus and lanceolate opposite leaves. The flowers are two-lipped, measuring 4–6 cm in length and up to 5 cm in diameter, gathered into tall inflorescences on short peduncles. Their coloration varies from white and yellow to pink, red, and dark purple, making the bushes a vibrant accent in the garden.
The plant is distinguished by abundant and prolonged flowering: from June until the first frosts. Due to its unpretentiousness and cold hardiness, 'Brazilian Carnival' is easily cultivated both in open ground and in containers. Seeds are sown in March; after seedlings emerge, they are pricked out, and by mid-May, they are transplanted to their permanent location. Pinching the plants at the 5–6 true leaf stage is recommended to improve branching.
'Brazilian Carnival' is widely used for group plantings in flower beds and rabatkas, as well as a solitary accent. Large fragrant flowers (3–4 cm) are perfect for cutting: they bloom even in water, making them in demand for bouquets and decorative compositions.
