Anemone BLUE FLAME

Cultivation and Maintenance Insights

The 'Blue Flame' anemone, a perennial derived from the research of the Federal Research Center for Subtropical Science, is an excellent choice for container gardening. For the grower, this variety offers a high degree of predictability. Its compact growth habit makes it well-suited for patios and terraces, requiring minimal pruning while maintaining a professional, manicured appearance throughout the season.

Technical Specifications and Care

• Container Drainage: Given its subtropical heritage, this plant is sensitive to root rot. Ensure containers have adequate drainage holes and a substantial gravel layer to prevent waterlogging.
• Blooming Habits: The flowers, measuring 5-7 cm in diameter, display a fascinating range of pink, blue, and violet hues. This natural variability allows for a dynamic look within a single container.
• Nutrient Management: To sustain continuous blooming, apply a balanced liquid fertilizer for flowering perennials every 14 days during the active growth phase.

Operational Recommendations

Maintenance is straightforward: deadheading spent blooms is essential to promote secondary flowering cycles. Because this variety is typically managed in pots, it is easy to relocate if weather conditions shift. While the plant shows good resilience to temperature fluctuations, it should be protected from hard frosts during dormant periods. By following a regular fertilizing schedule and ensuring proper hydration, you can maximize the decorative lifespan of your 'Blue Flame' arrangement throughout the growing season.
