Actinidia Mirage

Technical Profile: Actinidia 'Mirage'

Developed at the 'Zhigulevskie Sady' Research Institute by breeder G. I. Sobolev, 'Mirage' is an Actinidia arguta cultivar specifically engineered for superior adaptation to continental climates. Its physiological structure is designed to optimize yield efficiency in non-tropical environments.

Productivity and Morphological Data

The economic value of 'Mirage' is driven by its high yield-to-biomass ratio, making it a professional choice for both small-scale and intensive cultivation:

• Fruit mass: consistently ranges between 12–18 g, meeting modern market standards for table-ready actinidia.
• Yield capacity: 12–16 kg per mature plant, provided the trellis system is managed for optimal light penetration.

The fruit morphology consists of a green skin and a light-green pulp. The organoleptic profile is characterized by a refined sweet-and-sour balance complemented by a distinct pineapple aroma, resulting from a specific sugar-acid ratio and volatile oil composition accumulated during the maturation cycle.

Cultivation Mechanics

Operating 'Mirage' requires adherence to dioecious reproductive management; the inclusion of male pollinators is a technical necessity to unlock the 16 kg yield potential. Due to the cultivar's aggressive vegetative growth, a rigid trellis system is essential. This structural support ensures correct canopy architecture, facilitating air circulation and uniform sun exposure, which is critical to preventing fungal issues and ensuring maximum sugar concentration in the fruit.
