Actinidia is a large-fruit climbing plant belonging to the Actinidiaceae family, known for its bright and tasty berries that resemble mini-kiwi. The fruits are rich in vitamin C and other beneficial substances, making them a valuable addition to the diet. The plant is a deciduous perennial vine with branched shoots, grows easily under various climatic conditions, and withstands frost down to -30 °C.
For successful fruiting, actinidia requires a sexual system: female varieties produce fruits, while male ones only pollinate them. When planting, it is common to place 6–8 bushes of the female plant next to one male bush, or choose self-pollinating varieties that do not need a separate pollinator.
