Centradenia
The plant prefers loose, nutrient-rich soil with good drainage and a slightly acidic pH. For proper root system development, it is essential to maintain stable substrate moisture without the risk of waterlogging, which is detrimental to this crop.
Optimal temperatures for growing Centradenia range from +18 to +25 degrees Celsius. The culture is extremely sensitive to sudden temperature fluctuations and drafts, requiring protected growing conditions.
Centradenia thrives in diffused but fairly intense sunlight. Direct rays can cause burns on delicate leaf blades, so the plant should be shaded during midday hours, ensuring a 10–12 hour light period.
The primary use of this plant is in ornamental gardening and indoor floriculture. Due to its compact growth habit and abundant flowering, it is highly valued as an ornamental plant for interior decoration and greenhouse displays.
When cultivation standards are neglected, Centradenia is susceptible to pests, the most dangerous of which are spider mites and mealybugs. These pests multiply rapidly in conditions of low air humidity.
Excessive watering and high soil moisture often trigger the development of root rots and fungal infections. To prevent these issues, it is important to follow a strict irrigation schedule and provide effective drainage in containers.
