ELFIN BLUEBERRY

The Elfin Blueberry bush is a low-growing shrub reaching heights of up to 60-70 cm, featuring a dense crown and thin, upright canes. Its oval-shaped, light green leaves provide an attractive appearance, making it suitable not only for berry harvesting but also for landscape design, such as creating living fences. The variety is distinguished by its high winter hardiness and low maintenance requirements; it easily withstands frost without additional covering, making it ideal for cultivation in various climatic conditions. Elfin Blueberry fruits have an elongated, spindle shape, a rich blue color with a thick waxy coating, and a firm skin, ensuring that berries do not drop after ripening. Each berry weighs about 1.3 grams, and up to 3-5 kg of harvest can be collected from a single bush per season. The ripening period occurs in the second decade of June, classifying this variety as mid-early. The berries offer a sweet and sour taste with a subtle strawberry aroma, making them particularly appealing for fresh consumption as well as processing. The Elfin variety is self-sterile, so for proper pollination, it is recommended to plant it alongside other blueberry varieties, such as Kamchatka, Lazurnaya, or Goluboy Vereteno. The berries are versatile in application: they can be eaten fresh or used to make compotes, jams, juices, and frozen. The plant is easily propagated by runners that root quickly and do not require complex care, making it an excellent choice for both experienced gardeners and beginners.
