Lonicera 'USSULGA' is one of the most productive and large-fruited Bachkar selections, distinguished by unparalleled berry flavor. Tasting score reaches 5 points, berries weigh an average of 2.2 to 2.5 grams, are elongated-oval in shape with slight bumps and a strong waxy bloom. The pulp is tender, juicy, and has an excellent sweet taste, making the variety popular for both home consumption and industrial cultivation.
The 'USSULGA' bush grows up to 1.8–1.9 meters in height, with a dense crown up to 1.5 meters in diameter. High growth force allows for dense planting with 1–1.5 meter intervals, convenient for mass production. The variety fruits every year, bushes are literally heavy with large berries, and yield reaches 5 kg per bush and up to 2.7 tons per hectare. Berries ripen simultaneously, starting mid-May in southern Ukraine regions, which facilitates harvesting.
'USSULGA' is distinguished by high drought resistance and frost hardiness down to –35 °C, as well as good adaptation to fertile loose moist loamy or sandy-loam soils. Required soil acidity – pH 5.5–7.5. For optimal yield, pollinators and regular sanitary pruning from the fifth year of age are needed. Thanks to these characteristics, the variety is suitable for both small family farms and large agro-industrial enterprises.
