NUDUM 95

NUDUM 95 is a medium-ripening spring six-rowed barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) variety with a vegetation period ranging from 77 to 91 days. The plant is medium-height with an intermediate bush type, featuring very large kernels, an un-pubescent ventral groove, and a covering lemma. The mass of 1000 kernels ranges from 47 to 55 grams. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Chelyabinsk region. The grain contains a high protein level – from 16.3% to 20.0%. However, the variety is susceptible to loose smut and barley leaf streak, and highly susceptible to net form barley leaf spot.

Six-rowed barley NUDUM 95 is distinguished by a high content of digestible protein, making it particularly valuable for animal feeding. Compared with the six-rowed variety Biom, NUDUM 95 contains 29.5 grams more digestible protein, which improves the nutritional value of the feed. Using this variety in grain mixtures for feeding young pigs allows to reduce feed costs per unit of live mass gain, thereby increasing the economic efficiency of fattening.

Studies have shown that pigs receiving six-rowed barley NUDUM 95 in their diet digest nutrients better compared to animals fed six-rowed barley. The variety surpasses six-rowed barley in crude protein, crude fat, and metabolizable energy content, while lagging behind in crude fiber and crude ash content. The energy value of NUDUM 95 is 11% higher than that of the Chelyabinsk 99 variety. Based on these data, recipes for complete feed mixtures for pigs at different fattening stages have been developed, confirming its high feed value and effectiveness in livestock farming.
