CHELYAB EARLY is a soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety with an early or early-mid vegetative period, lasting from 70 to 88 days. The plants are medium-height, with an erect or semi-erect bush and stems of medium thickness and strength. The ear of the variety is pyramidal or cylindrical, 7 to 10 cm long, of medium density, with white, awned, and non-hairy grain weighing 32 to 43 g per 1000 grains. The grain is white; the variety belongs to the greekum type and is characterized by high responsiveness to improved nutrition.
The variety is distinguished by good drought resistance, exceeding standard varieties by 1 point, and lodging resistance. It is moderately susceptible to brown rust and powdery bunt, practically resistant to powdery mildew, but susceptible to covered bunt. Thanks to these characteristics, CHELYAB EARLY is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the Ural, Lower Volga, Volgograd, Saratov, and Orenburg regions.
Wheat of this variety has good baking qualities comparable to those of a good filler, which makes it valuable for bread production. The plants are characterized by high yield, reaching about 14.9 centners per hectare in the Ural region, and up to 6.5-7.0 tons per hectare in other zones due to high tillering and resistance to shattering and germination of grain in the ear. CHELYAB EARLY is suitable for intensive cultivation and is distinguished by stability and reliability under various climatic conditions.
