The OCEOLA watermelon is a mid-season variety with spherical fruits characterized by smooth green rind with dark green spiny stripes. Each fruit weighs between 4.3 and 6.6 kg, making it convenient for transportation and storage due to its good storability and transportability. The plant is long-vined with green narrowly lobed dissected leaves, and the seeds are oval, black, and smooth.
The watermelon flesh is intensely pink, tender, juicy, and very sweet, making the variety particularly attractive for fresh consumption and use in salads. The period from germination to technical maturity is 70-80 days, allowing for sowing planning in May with a recommended density of 1.0–3.0 kg/ha and a sowing depth of 4-5 cm. The planting scheme is typically 180–200 cm between rows and 60–80 cm between plants.
The variety has medium susceptibility to anthracnose and fusarium wilt, as well as increased susceptibility to powdery mildew. Yields in growing regions reach 144-324 c/ha. Due to its characteristics, the OCEOLA watermelon is suitable for cultivation in various climatic zones, including Ukraine, Moldova, and Russia, and is an excellent choice for those who value high-quality fruit and its taste.
