Promin — a new variety of hazelnut from Moldovan breeding, distinguished by high yield and early fruiting. In Ukraine, this variety is rapidly gaining popularity due to its medium height and ability to bear fruit 1-2 years earlier than other hazelnut varieties. Trees start bearing fruit on the 4th–6th year after planting, and flowering begins in mid-May. The fruit ripening period falls at the end of September to the beginning of October. The fruits of the Promin variety are fairly large, weighing from 17.5 to 19.5 grams, with a proper oval shape. The kernel is light-colored and easily separates from the shell, facilitating its use. The nuts possess excellent flavor qualities, which even the most demanding gourmets will appreciate. The yield in the best years, usually at 15–20 years of age, reaches 130–140 kg per tree. For successful cultivation of the Promin variety, it is recommended to select sunny sites with moderately moist loamy-carbonate soils. Such site selection promotes full development of the tree and stable fruiting. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptability, this variety will be an excellent choice for gardeners aiming to obtain high-quality and delicious hazelnuts.
