Ovata is a variety of walnut grown mainly in Ukraine. It is characterized by enhanced frost resistance and abundant fruiting: the fruits are large, round-oblong in shape, with an average weight of about 24 grams. Thanks to high market quality, the yield reaches 3–3.5 t/hm².
The Ovata variety tree has a short trunk and a wide crown, making it sun-loving and requiring protection from wind. To achieve a stable yield, it is recommended to plant in sunny, well-lit areas and provide protection from diseases and pests. Proper care of the plant allows maintaining high productivity.
The "Ovata" variety is distributed only as cleft plants, as this propagation method guarantees 100% correspondence to the maternal specimen. Cleft plants are significantly more expensive than saplings but ensure reliable transmission of all variety characteristics. Due to these features, "Ovata" is a demanded choice for gardeners and walnut producers.
