Description Jefferson
Jefferson nut is a two-year-old sapling with an open, wide, and spreading canopy, reaching a height and diameter of 3-3.5 meters. Due to this tree structure, light penetration into its center is ensured, which promotes increased nut size and kernel size, as well as reduces the occurrence of single-fruit clusters. This variety features a more compact tree compared to the Barcelona variety, while demonstrating higher yield and kernel extraction efficiency.

Jefferson nuts are large, round, with a fruit diameter of approximately 0.6-0.8 cm. The kernel is large, sweet, and dessert-like in flavor, making it especially attractive for producing high-quality pecans. The variety is characterized by uniform fruit shape and size, as well as high kernel uniformity and low defect rates, positively impacting product market value.

Jefferson exhibits good resistance to Phytophthora and the American fungus, enhancing its reliability and longevity in commercial plantations. It enters full fruiting relatively early, with nut maturation occurring in mid-September. Due to these characteristics and high yield, Jefferson has become one of the leading varieties in American selection, widely used in commercial pecan cultivation.
