GI 195/2.1 — an early-ripening, high-yielding cherry variety developed by breeders L.V. Taranko and A.V. Sychev at the Donetsk Experimental Station for Horticulture, through crossing the varieties "Griot Ostegaymsky" and "Valeriy Chkalov". Trees of this variety are medium-sized with attractive wide-oval crowns and thick, strong gray-brown branches. They begin fruiting from the 3rd to 4th year after planting, making them attractive for both home gardeners and commercial growers.
The fruits of GI 195/2.1 are dark red in color and flat-round in shape, weighing approximately 9-10 grams. The flesh is sweet, without acidity, and has a distinct cherry-cherry aroma, giving the berries exceptional taste qualities confirmed by a tasting score of 4.7 out of 5. The stones are small and easily detach, and the juice has a rich red or dark red hue.
This cherry variety is versatile in application: berries are excellent for fresh consumption as well as for various types of preservation. Thanks to its early ripening — the last decade of June — GI 195/2.1 allows harvesting at the beginning of the season, providing an additional advantage for gardeners and farmers.
