Description Studennikovska
The 'Studennikovska' cherry variety was developed in Ukraine and is distinguished by its high adaptability to various climatic conditions, allowing successful cultivation in different regions of the country. A medium-sized tree with spreading branches, which facilitates effective growth even in moderate climates. The fruits of this variety have a dark-red color and significantly exceed the standard size of cherries. The flesh is dense and juicy with a distinct sweet-tart flavor, making the berries suitable for fresh consumption as well as for processing into jams and compotes. Fruit ripening occurs at the end of June — beginning of July, making 'Studennikovska' one of the earliest cherry varieties on the market.

When cultivating cherries and plums, to which 'Studennikovska' belongs, it is important to select the right planting site. Ideal conditions include flat areas with fertile soils and good drainage. In northern regions of Ukraine, gentle southern and south-western slopes are preferred, while in southern regions, sheltered northern and north-western slopes are recommended. The depth of groundwater should be at least 1.5–2 meters for cherries. Trees should not be planted in lowlands, near water bodies, or on open windy areas, as this increases the risk of flower bud freezing and reduces fruit set.

The 'Studennikovska' variety is recommended by the Institute of Horticulture of NAAN as a semi-dwarf rootstock for plums, ensuring high productivity and good adaptability to production conditions. When planting, consider the growth vigor of the trees: cherries are generally less vigorous than plums and require closer spacing. For semi-dwarf rootstocks such as 'Studennikovska', recommended planting schemes include 4.5–5 meters between rows and 2–2.5 meters between trees within the row. Proper preparation of the planting hole and care for young trees, including mulching and regular watering, contribute to successful establishment and development of the crop.
