Optimistka

Cherry variety "Optimistka" — a Ukrainian summer variety of Milievskaya selection with medium ripening time, fruits ready for harvest by late June. The tree has medium growth vigor and an oval crown. This variety is self-sterile, meaning it requires pollinators for fruiting, but fruit yield significantly increases in the presence of other cherry varieties. Eight-year-old trees can produce up to 30 kg of berries per tree.

"Optimistka" fruits are juicy and sweet, suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for canning and baking. The variety is characterized by good cold resistance, allowing cultivation in cooler climates. For successful cultivation, choose sites with neutral soil reaction, preferably sandy, loamy, or clayey soils, where groundwater is deep and waterlogging is absent.

Cherry care includes planting in spring, when the soil has warmed but buds have not yet opened. Bright sunlight is essential. Irrigation is performed 3-4 times per season: after flowering, during fruit set, after harvest, and in autumn until mid-October. Fertilization includes three root applications of fertilizers in spring and two foliar applications of nitrogen-containing compounds in July and three weeks later. Organic fertilizers and microelements are also applied to maintain plant health. Pruning is done in spring and fall, and if necessary, in summer after fruiting. Propagation can be achieved through seeds, cuttings, root suckers, and grafting.
