Vegetable Pea Talbot F1

Why Talbot F1 is a pro-level choice

When working with shelling peas, the biggest challenge is the harvesting window. With Talbot from Monsanto, the timeline becomes predictable. This large-seeded hybrid matures consistently in 60-70 days. For a farmer, this means a precise sowing schedule and a clear understanding of when equipment needs to hit the field.

Field performance and harvesting

• Field characteristics: The sharp shape of the pod makes it significantly easier to harvest with combines. This reduces harvest losses and minimizes mechanical damage to the peas as they pass through the threshing system.
• Grain size: As a large-seeded type, it delivers the uniform output that processors look for, while maintaining the market appeal consumers want.
• Reliability: Monsanto has bred this hybrid for resilience, which means less reliance on guesswork when it comes to weather. In practice, this translates to fewer fungicide applications, provided that proper crop rotation is followed.

Managing this crop requires attention to irrigation during the flowering and pod-filling phases. With sufficient moisture, Talbot F1 yields uniformly, avoiding staggered ripening. This is crucial for growers supplying the freezing or canning industry, where batch uniformity is non-negotiable. The seed quality is reliable, germination rates are high, making your cost-per-hectare projections highly accurate.
