Tulip Ice Wonder

A Late-Season Aesthetic

Ice Wonder is a standout in the double late tulip class, firmly established as a favorite for late-spring landscaping. It is highly valued for extending the blooming season, bringing a touch of peony-like luxury to gardens just as other varieties begin to fade. Its blooming period peaks in the second half of May, making it a reliable choice for late-season color.

Visual Profile

The hallmark of this variety is its dense, multi-layered petals. The coloration is a delicate fusion of white and pink, blending into a soft gradient. Its medium-height stem makes it a versatile performer, suitable for both border planting and cut flower production, providing a balanced aesthetic that works well in diverse garden settings.

Agronomic Strengths

In terms of breeding, Ice Wonder excels where other double tulips often struggle—specifically in its robust resistance to common pathogens:

• High tolerance to Fusarium and Verticillium wilt ensures population stability in open-ground cultivation.
• Inherent resistance to Cladosporium and Tomato mosaic virus significantly reduces the need for intensive fungicide programs, making it a more sustainable choice for professional growers.

These traits allow the plant to maintain its visual integrity even during the variable weather conditions common to late spring.

Market Positioning

Ice Wonder is widely sought after by both professional landscapers and garden enthusiasts. It does not demand highly specialized conditions, performing best in well-drained soil. Its sturdy stem architecture offers excellent resistance to wind and rain, ensuring the blooms remain intact and presentable throughout their entire lifecycle.
