Tulip Striped Bellona

A striking classic for professional growers and gardeners

Striped Bellona is a standout member of the Triumph class, widely regarded as a 'gold standard' for spring forcing and landscape design. Its defining feature is its expressive bi-color pattern: a vibrant yellow background painted with bold red streaks and brushstrokes. Unlike solid-colored varieties, this tulip captures attention even from a distance, making it a focal point in any floral display.

Strengths and key characteristics

• Structural integrity: The classic elongated goblet shape retains its firmness even under bright sun, a rarity for many yellow-toned varieties.
• Predictability: As a mid-season bloomer, it allows gardeners and florists to plan their spring schedules with high precision.
• Versatility: With a medium stem height, it performs equally well in cut flower bouquets, garden borders, and container arrangements.

Cultivation insights

As a true Triumph hybrid, Striped Bellona requires well-drained soil to thrive. During prolonged spring rains, it is crucial to monitor soil moisture to prevent fungal issues, to which this variety, like most of its peers, remains moderately sensitive. It is the optimal choice for those seeking a balance between visual drama and reliable performance in temperate climates.
