Tulip Auckland

Market Position and Pedigree

The 'Auckland' tulip belongs to the prestigious 'Triumph' category, which is widely recognized in the global floral market for its perfect goblet shape and structural integrity. This hybrid combines aesthetic appeal with robust development, making it a reliable choice for both greenhouse production and decorative landscaping. Its distinctive yellow and red bicolor pattern has established it as a market-favorite for spring arrangements.

Biological Robustness and Disease Resistance

A key differentiator for 'Auckland' is its exceptional resistance profile, which significantly reduces the reliance on fungicide treatments during the growth cycle. The hybrid has been rigorously tested against common tulip pathogens, displaying high immunity to:

• Verticillium wilt;
• Sclerotinia;
• Downy mildew (Peronospora);
• Phomopsis and Phoma species.

This high level of resistance ensures consistent quality throughout the growing season.

Agronomic Profile

As a mid-season bloomer with a moderate stem height, 'Auckland' offers excellent wind resistance and prevents lodging—a common issue in less stable varieties. Its ability to maintain its goblet shape and vibrant pigmentation after harvest makes it a top-tier choice for professional florists who demand longevity and visual impact. By fitting into the mid-spring bloom window, this variety provides essential flexibility for commercial growers aiming to manage crop turnover effectively.
