Tulip Shannon

Late-season Aesthetic

The 'Shannon' tulip holds a unique position in the double late tulip segment. While most spring bulbs have already faded, this variety is just beginning to open its lush, multi-layered blooms. Its defining feature is the distinct pink hue of the petals, which, combined with their dense texture, creates a 'peony-flowered' effect. The medium stem height makes it versatile: the variety looks balanced both in the foreground of a flower bed and as a commercial cut flower.

Agronomic Advantages

The key asset of this variety is its genetic resistance to a complex of fungal diseases. Unlike many demanding double tulips, 'Shannon' demonstrates high immunity to:

• Downy mildew (Peronospora);
• Phomopsis;
• Phoma blight (Phomosis).

Such resistance significantly simplifies crop management, minimizing the need for frequent fungicide applications. This makes 'Shannon' an optimal choice for farmers focused on sustainable production and gardeners seeking low-maintenance decorative plants.

Who is 'Shannon' best for?

For professional flower growers, the variety is attractive due to its predictable blooming window—'Shannon' ranks among the mid-range varieties within the late-season groups. It does not require specific, complex cultivation techniques; however, it is important to note that double varieties require protection from strong winds due to the weight of their blooms. If you are looking for a balance between premium-class aesthetics and plant resilience, this tulip will meet your expectations.
