Tulip Sherwood Gardens

Professional Forcing and Cultivation

The 'Sherwood Gardens' tulip, a classic Triumph cultivar, is a staple for commercial greenhouse operations. Its reliable performance during the mid-season forcing window makes it a preferred choice for growers prioritizing consistent yield and high-quality floral stems.

Practical Applications for Growers

• Forcing Strategy: As a tall-stemmed variety, 'Sherwood Gardens' requires careful light management during the forcing phase to prevent excessive elongation. Maintaining proper spacing and consistent cooling cycles is essential to achieving the structural integrity required for high-end retail.
• Market Utility: The classic pink coloration provides a steady demand during peak floral seasons. Its versatility in both mono-bouquets and mixed arrangements ensures high turnover, making it a low-risk addition to any spring planting schedule.
• Post-Harvest Longevity: This variety is noted for its exceptional vase life. When kept in cold storage at 1–2°C, the stems retain turgor and petal color for up to two weeks, providing a critical buffer for supply chain logistics and retail distribution.

For field-grown scenarios, 'Sherwood Gardens' remains a top performer due to its sturdy, wind-resistant stems. The uniformity of the crop reduces labor costs during harvesting, as the consistency in height and flower development allows for efficient bulk collection with minimal culling.
