Tulip Alibi

Professional Forcing: The Reliability of 'Alibi'

The Triumph class tulip 'Alibi' is a staple for commercial growers who prioritize consistency and crop uniformity. When planning spring production cycles, this variety is often chosen for its predictable growth behavior, ensuring that a high percentage of the crop reaches maturity at the same time, which is essential for efficient harvest management.

Agronomic Strengths and Practical Application

• Resilience and Protection: The variety exhibits strong resistance to key greenhouse pathogens, specifically downy mildew (Peronospora), Phomopsis, and Phoma. This resistance reduces the need for aggressive chemical treatments and minimizes the risk of losses during high-density forcing.
• Growth Characteristics: Featuring a medium-height stem, 'Alibi' is structurally robust. It does not require additional staking, which simplifies greenhouse labor. The deep pink petals maintain a classic goblet shape, which remains tight and visually appealing throughout the supply chain.
• Scheduling: With its mid-season blooming window, it is a versatile choice for filling supply gaps in late winter. It integrates seamlessly into automated greenhouse cycles, provided that the standard cold-storage protocols for the bulbs are followed.

Business Context: For commercial greenhouses, 'Alibi' is synonymous with low-risk inventory. The flower's durability and aesthetic appeal make it a preferred candidate for retail bouquets. Growers value the variety because it minimizes the percentage of unsellable stems, ensuring a higher profit margin per square meter of forcing space.
