Tulip Red Matador

Reliability first: Why Red Matador is a top choice for industrial forcing

For commercial growers, Red Matador has become a benchmark in the Darwin hybrid segment. Its primary appeal lies in its predictability: a tall, sturdy stem and a dense, deep-red bloom make it an ideal candidate for both spring holiday forcing and high-traffic landscaping projects.

Resistance to pathogens is the defining factor that transitions this variety from "high maintenance" to "high profitability." In intensive cultivation environments, where the risk of fungal spread is significant, Red Matador shows robust immunity to Fusarium and Verticillium wilts. This allows agronomists to optimize budgets on fungicide applications and minimize post-harvest losses.

Practical application scenarios

• Industrial Forcing: High survival rates and resistance to complex viruses (including tomato mosaic virus, which often affects bulbous crops) allow for high-density planting without fear of mass losses.
• Landscape Design: Due to its height and color-fastness in direct sunlight, this variety is a staple for formal flowerbeds. It maintains a strong vertical habit, rarely requiring support even in moderate wind.
• Cut Flower Production: The dense, structured bloom retains its commercial appearance for an extended period, which is crucial for logistics and retail shelf life. The plants transport well, maintaining stem turgor throughout the supply chain.

When incorporating Red Matador into your rotation, focus on its mid-season blooming window. This makes it an excellent choice for bridging the gap between early and late varieties, ensuring a continuous supply of high-quality product to the market.
