Tulip Purple Flag

An elegant statement for the spring garden

The Purple Flag tulip is a classic representative of the Triumph class, highly valued by landscape designers for its perfect goblet shape. Unlike many early-blooming varieties, this tulip does not rush to fully open under the first rays of the sun, retaining its dense, almost satin-like petals in a deep lilac hue. This resilience makes it notably resistant to spring winds that often damage more delicate, early-blooming varieties.

Key advantages

• Structural stability: The tight, sturdy cup maintains sharp lines even at the peak of bloom.
• Color impact: The rich purple-lilac tone provides a striking contrast against classic yellow or white varieties.
• Mid-season bloom: Flowering occurs at the height of the season, creating a perfect bridge between early and late bulb varieties.

The primary strength of the Purple Flag is its reliability. This variety is perfectly suited for both professional forcing for holidays and urban landscaping. Thanks to its medium stem height, it does not require additional support and holds a strong vertical position even after heavy spring rain. However, for maximum decorative effect, the variety requires well-drained soil; in conditions of water stagnation, the bulbs may lose their varietal strength by the third year. For the home gardener, it is a fail-safe choice that demands minimal maintenance, requiring only standard fertilization and annual lifting.
