Tulip Coriolan

The Triumph standard: Assessing the Coriolan variety

The 'Coriolan' tulip has established itself as a reliable choice within the Triumph category, highly regarded for its balance of structural elegance and robust horticultural performance. As a medium-blooming variety, it serves as a critical bridge in the floral production cycle, favored by both professional growers and landscape designers.

Field performance and disease resistance

The market reputation of Coriolan is built largely on its resilience. In agricultural settings, it is valued for its ability to withstand common bulb-related pathogens without requiring intensive chemical intervention. Specifically, the variety demonstrates significant resistance to:

• Yellow Rust;
• Septoria;
• Powdery Mildew.

This inherent hardiness makes it a cost-effective solution for mass cultivation, where maintaining plant health throughout the growing season is a primary objective.

Aesthetic and physical traits

Visually, Coriolan is characterized by a sophisticated interplay of red and lilac tones on its petals. It exhibits the quintessential goblet shape of the Triumph class, supported by a sturdy, medium-height stem. This structural integrity is a significant asset for the commercial cut-flower market, ensuring that blooms retain their shape and visual appeal during transport and display.

Applications and market role

By filling the time-gap between early and late-blooming varieties, Coriolan is a staple for those planning sequential floral displays. Its predictable blooming schedule and proven track record of health make it a foundational asset for any professional horticultural collection, ensuring reliable results year after year.
