Tulip Companion

Consistency in Late Bloomers

Selecting the right variety for late-spring displays is essential for maintaining garden aesthetics after earlier bulbs have faded. The 'Compagnon' tulip is a reliable simple late variety that performs consistently across both commercial landscapes and private gardens. Its predictable growth pattern makes planning and maintenance significantly easier.

Operations and Maintenance

The primary advantage of this variety is its robust health and resistance profile. Managing 'Compagnon' is straightforward due to its inherent resilience against common pathogens:

• Downy Mildew: high tolerance during damp spring conditions.
• Ascochyta: low susceptibility to leaf spotting, even in dense planting schemes.
• Powdery Mildew: foliage remains clean and decorative throughout the entire blooming season.

As a tall variety, it is best placed in areas sheltered from strong winds to ensure the integrity of the flower heads. Maintenance is standard: regular irrigation during the active growth phase and routine fertilization. Because of its strong immune system, the need for intensive fungicide applications is reduced, allowing for better resource management and lower operational costs.

Visual Impact

The delicate pink hue of the petals adds soft texture and depth to any floral arrangement. The classic shape of the flower, held high on a sturdy stem, creates a sophisticated profile. As a simple late-blooming tulip, 'Compagnon' is ideal for creating monochromatic masses or professional cut-flower beds, providing a final, elegant flourish to the tulip season.
