Tulip Cairo

Market Status and Pedigree

The 'Cairo' tulip belongs to the distinguished Triumph group, which has long been established as the industry standard for both commercial forcing and professional landscaping. Known for its sophisticated color palette, which blends rich orange and deep brown tones, 'Cairo' is highly valued by designers for its ability to add warmth and elegance to spring borders. It is a mid-season bloomer that maintains its architectural integrity and structural rigidity, even when exposed to unpredictable spring weather conditions.

Disease Resistance and Cultivation

A primary draw for professional growers is the hybrid's genetic resilience. 'Cairo' exhibits a strong defense mechanism against a range of common bulb pathogens that often compromise crop yields. The variety shows excellent resistance to:

• Powdery mildew;
• Anthracnose;
• Fusarium wilt.

This natural durability helps maintain high crop productivity while reducing the need for intensive fungicide application. Its average height and sturdy stems ensure that the plant remains upright and attractive, making it a reliable performer in both field cultivation and controlled greenhouse environments.

Application and Value

Positioned as a premium variety, 'Cairo' fills a crucial niche in the mid-season floral market. Its unique coloration sets it apart from standard red or yellow cultivars, making it a sought-after choice for upscale floral arrangements. For growers, it represents a balanced investment: it offers the aesthetic complexity needed to command higher market prices, supported by the horticultural reliability required for profitable production and successful post-harvest storage.
