Tulip Balerina

Structural Mechanics and Floral Design

The 'Ballerina' tulip belongs to the lily-flowered class, a grouping defined by its specific morphological architecture. Unlike traditional cup-shaped varieties, 'Ballerina' features elongated, pointed tepals that reflex outward. This structural solution provides significant mechanical integrity: the rigid tepals are less prone to wind damage, ensuring the bloom maintains its form throughout the late-spring transition.

Agronomic Performance and Resistance

From a production perspective, 'Ballerina' is notable for its robust biological profile, specifically in mitigating soil-borne diseases:

• Pathogen Resistance: The cultivar exhibits strong genetic resistance to Fusarium and root rot. This is a critical factor for high-density plantings where soil moisture levels might otherwise predispose plants to systemic infections.
• Fungal Defense: The plant’s thick cuticle acts as a physical barrier against powdery mildew, reducing the necessity for prophylactic chemical interventions.

Categorized as a late-blooming variety, 'Ballerina' features a medium-height stem that provides excellent leverage against lodging. Its vibrant orange pigmentation remains remarkably stable, showing minimal fading under intense UV exposure throughout the duration of its late-season bloom window. These characteristics make it a reliable choice for both professional floriculture and structured landscape design.
