Tulip Gwen

Technical Profile and Genetic Resilience

The 'Gwen' tulip, a representative of the Triumph class, is engineered for structural rigidity and field performance. As a late-flowering variety, it benefits from a developmental cycle that avoids the volatility of early-spring weather, ensuring consistent development of the flower head.

Key Agronomic Attributes

• Disease Resistance: The cultivar exhibits robust biological resistance to key fungal pathogens, specifically Alternaria, Fusarium wilt, and Phytophthora. This immunity profile is a significant asset, reducing the dependency on intensive fungicide programs and enhancing the sustainability of the crop cycle.
• Growth Mechanics: The plant maintains a medium height with a sturdy, resilient peduncle. This structural architecture effectively counters wind shear and prevents lodging, a critical factor for maintaining high-quality commercial yields during adverse weather conditions.
• Phenotypic Stability: The white and pink color scheme is derived from stable pigment expression within the petal cells. Unlike some bi-color varieties, 'Gwen' retains its color uniformity and petal tension throughout the entirety of its blooming cycle, ensuring lasting marketability.

For professional growers, 'Gwen' offers a predictable growth model. Its efficient root system, combined with a strong internal defense mechanism against soil-borne pathogens, allows the plant to allocate its energy reserves effectively toward forming a large, symmetrical, and tightly structured bloom, typical of the high-standard Triumph class.
