Tulip Roelevaer

Market Position and Selection

The 'Roellevaer' tulip is a distinguished representative of the Triumph class. This group, developed through crosses between early tulips and Darwin Hybrids, has long been a staple in professional horticulture. 'Roellevaer' has earned a strong reputation among growers for its predictable development cycle and reliable performance, making it a preferred choice for both greenhouse forcing and field production.

Agronomic Profile and Disease Resistance

Categorized as a mid-season bloomer, 'Roellevaer' fits seamlessly into production schedules. The plant exhibits medium height with a sturdy stem, ensuring structural integrity during the flowering phase. A critical advantage of this variety is its inherent genetic resistance to major bulb pathogens, including downy mildew (peronospora), phomopsis, and phoma. This reduced vulnerability significantly lowers the need for intensive fungicide application, contributing to more sustainable farming practices.

Aesthetic Qualities

The flower features the iconic, robust goblet shape synonymous with the Triumph class. Its visual impact is driven by a vibrant red and yellow color scheme, creating a striking contrast that is highly sought after for both high-end florist arrangements and public landscaping. Its ability to retain its form and color profile throughout the bloom period makes it an enduring favorite in the cut flower market.
