Tomato Viking

Viking Tomato: A Premium Choice for Fresh Markets

The 'Viking' tomato stands out in the determinate segment for its impressive fruit size and aesthetic appeal. Unlike standard market varieties, this cultivar focuses on delivering fruits weighing over 200 grams, characterized by a distinct heart shape and an attractive pink hue. It is an ideal choice for producers targeting high-end fresh produce markets where appearance and taste are as critical as yield.

Key Growth Traits

With a maturity period of 90–100 days, 'Viking' is an early-season performer. The determinate growth habit makes it highly manageable in both open fields and tunnel greenhouses, allowing growers to optimize space without the complex pruning required for indeterminate types. The breeding efforts behind this variety successfully balanced sugar and acidity, resulting in a flavor profile that outperforms many mass-market hybrids.

• Pros: Superior market appearance, eye-catching color, large fruit size, and excellent adaptability.
• Considerations: Due to the heavy fruit load, structural support and staking are mandatory to maintain plant health and fruit quality.

For small-scale farms and market gardeners, 'Viking' offers a perfect balance between professional performance and the premium characteristics that customers demand in fresh vegetables.
